DIY Diaper Bag with 5 pockets

Diaper bags are essential bags for every mom. They need to be spacious with multiple compartments to cater to baby’s different needs.

The size can vary and I have made a diaper bag that is neither too small nor too big. It can also be used as everyday or travel bag after the baby grows up. So it’s a win win.

The material I have used to sew the bag is polyester canvas. The outside is quilted with polyester sheet inside and inner lining is fused with dotted or very lightweight fusible fabric.

The bag has one zipper slip pocket on the front. On the inside it has 1 zipper pocket, 2 slip pockets and 1 bottle holder on the side.

It has D rings sewn into it so that an adjustable strap can be added or removed if required. Apart from that there are two sewn in short straps as well.

To make the bag you will need following requirements:

  • Front body: (2 quilted fabric cut to pattern)
  • Inner body: (2 contrast fabric cut to template)
  • Gusset: zip sides (2 quilted and 2 contrast fabric= 47cm x 6.5cm)
  • Gusset Bottom (1 quilted and 1 contrast fabric = 55cm x 12cm)
  • Inner zipper pocket: 28cm x 36cm (zip: 27cm)
  • Inner slip pocket: 40cm x 24cm
  • Inner side pocket: Cut to template (double the fabric)
  • Outside Zipper Pocket:
    • Zip Top: 5cm x 23cm (1 quilted fabric and 1 contrast fabric)
    • Zip bottom: 16cm x 23cm (1 quilted fabric and 1 contrast fabric)
  • Webbing: 58cm 84cm x2
